TRANSCRIPT

Hello! Welcome to the Kids Ask Authors Podcast! I’m Grace Lin, children’s book author and illustrator of many books! You might know my Newbery Honor book, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon or my Caldecott Honor book A Big Mooncake for Little Star. I’m also the author and illustrator of the Ling And Ting early readers. Since I’ve written and illustrated books for over 20 years, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to visit many, many schools and meet my kid readers.  I’ve had many incredible interactions with them and I’ve noticed that they never run out of questions!  I always wish I had time to answer them all.  So, here on this podcast I’m going to try to do that!

Every week a guest author and I will be answering one kid question. If you know a kid that has an author question, send it in! The question can range from the general like “Where do you get your ideas?” to the more particular like “What is the biggest writing trap an author has to avoid?” and I’m going to do some solo episodes for those readers who have very specific questions about me and my books.

Because kids really love to interact with authors of the books they love!  I’ve seen this time and time again. However, I also know that many schools cannot get authors in their classrooms—not everyone has the budget, time or support to do that. This podcast is a way to get kids who may not get to hear an author in real life a taste of the experience—and hopefully encourage them on their own creative journey.

And the kids you know can be a part of this podcast!  If a kid you know has a question they would like to ask an author, please submit it! Also, if every episode of Kids Ask Authors will end with a book review, a poem or a joke. If you have kid that wants to share one of those, please submit that too! All you have to do is call our number 413-341-0385 and have your child leave their question, book review, poem or joke there –just like a voice message.  Or go to our website: kidsaskauthors.com and submit it there.  So either call 413-341-0385 or go to kidsaskauthors.com!

But the best way you can help this podcast is to please subscribe to it, leave a review and tell all your friends and colleagues to do the same. And most of all share it with kids.  Because this podcast is for them.

 Thanks so much!
